The National Weather Service is seeking feedback on the redesign of its local weather website to improve its ease of use. NWS has done a great job with this remodel, and I would encourage each user/audience to provide feedback from their perspective. For example, as a sailor, I am mostly interested in the hour-by-hour wind forecast, so the new graphic (above) is a huge improvement. On the other hand, as a bicycle commuter, I only want a customized window telling me the probability of rain at drive times, and that’s it – I’ll deal with the cold or heat. As an occasional disaster relief worker, I’m focused on identifying hazards and knowing the hydrologic forecast – where did you hide those? So take a look, and make your voice heard.
